South Haven Steelheaders
Community Service/Projects

It is noted that the first Tuesday of each month, at 7:30 p.m., location - River Bend Boad Club, 33 North Bailey, South Haven, MI, the South Haven Chapter of the MSSFA holds its meetings. At these meetings, during the business/discussion section, it is decided how much money and time will be spent towards different projects concerning the community. The South Haven Chapter of the MSSFA was the first chapter formed, started January 15, 1974 by 50 members of this community who cared about fishing.

Even though fishing issues have been a priority, the chapter felt that it should also participate and give something back to the community that had been good for them in many ways. Some projects that have been supported over the years by the South Haven Steelheaders Chapter include the following:

The South Haven Steelheaders Chapter has their Annual Fish Boil during the National Blueberry Festival in August. They serve between 600 and 700 people.

For the past three years, the South Haven Steelheaders have been working with the DNR on the Fish Net Pen Project.
